You know, as I go through this, I can't help but wonder where they got this list from. They have His Dark Materials on the list (probably because it's controversial) and Bridget Jone's Diary, but there's nothing on here from Ernest Hemingway (I am a sucker for a tragic romance), and The BFG isn't mentioned at all. Oh, and the first "American fairytale," the Land of Oz series (there are 11 by the original author), isn't mentioned either. I don't know what these people consider classics, but I have to say that they're greatly lacking in some great books here. Also, for some reason they have "The Chronicles of Narnia," and then The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is two books further. And isn't "Hamlet" part of the Complete Works of Shakespeare? Anyway, I have a feeling after reading this list that someone typed this out while simply going down the Best Seller's list or simply browsing Amazon. It's probably a scam, but it was a good idea. I like thinking about what books I haven't read and would like to. So don't bother to post this on your blog if you don't want to. But use it to get some new book ideas. And go check out your local library...I feel like a PBS public service announcement. :)
