I Don't Know...

why blogging has become so unimportant to me lately...or for the past year.  I'm just being honest.  This isn't a priority as much as it used to be.  I'm going to try and share pictures and details for B's first birthday party this weekend.  That's mainly for dear Nonnie and Grandpa who can't make it for the party.  Since I forgot to post, my little girl has now officially been a year old for two days!  Happy belated birthday Vera.  I love you!!

So...

it's already been over a month since I posted last, hasn't it?  I think I owe some pictures of my projects I made while the kids were gone, but as they are in said kiddos' rooms, and it's nap time, I'll have to get back to it later.

I have been busy with little bits of inspiration all over.  Since I've had a girl, my creativity has taken flight.  I've been dealing with the usual springtime urge to plant, but craftiness is not quite as strenuous, nor is it subject to the curveballs thrown all too often by Oklahoma weather.  (Can you say snow storm in March?)  Soooo...my knitting has taken a little turn.  I've taken to knitting tiny flowers for baby hairclips.  (I have some friends who want some as well.)  I love doing it, but I haven't decided if I want to go the sales route.  If you're my friend on Facebook, I have pictures posted up there.  I could sell them, and I might team up with a friend of mine who crochets (we've discussed it once).  Yes, it would be nice to fund the habit, but the stress of selling...I just don't know yet. 

Right now is a bad time for me to make a decision though, as I am nearing the first birthday of my baby girl.  I know, right?  It came SO quickly!  In nine days, she will be 1.  So party invitations, cake arrangements, birthday presents, etc.  You know the drill.

Sickos

My week without kids....will have to be covered later.  I would like to say that I accomplished everything on my list, but that would be a lie.  I did accomplish some of my projects, and there will be pictures soon.  (I promise Kate!)

My life is now back in full swing.  What fabulous visitor came back with the kids when they returned?  Strep.  Conlan has strep.  Not that strep is a huge deal when taken care of immediately.  In fact, I prefer strep to drainage.  Drainage requires somewhat constant care, whereas strep is knocked out with a quick trip to the doctor and 10 days of antibiotics.  Not to mention that a sick kid is a bit easier to manage. 

So for the next few days, I'm keeping a close watch on Vera and sucking down apple cider vinegar like there's no tomorrow.  I have no desire for this to move throughout our family.  And Conlan is perfectly content watching movies until he hits the "not contagious" stage. :)

Peace and Quiet

This weekend, my parents are coming to visit.  When they leave on Sunday, they will be taking my two beautiful children with them for an entire week.

Part of me is scared to be without them; what will I do with my time?  However, I'm looking forward to a little peace and quiet.

Monday is my 27th birthday, and I am ecstatic to be spending that day alone.  Another snow storm is rolling in on Sunday night, and I plan on spending Monday by watching Audrey Hepburn fall hopelessly in love with men way too old for her in black and white.  Maybe I'll gather up the courage to drive in the snow.  If I do, I plan on discovering that overstuffed chair at Barnes and Noble with my name on it.  I'll find a book that I've never read and sit until I'm finished with it.  No need to purchase it; I'll just read it in the store.  My coffee purchase will be good enough.

I also have a whole list of projects to do.  My creative juices are flowing already, so I will definitely share pictures of what I make while my children are gone.  I have so many ideas and so little time most days, and I am ready to create!  I had planned on some good, deep cleaning while they are gone, but I've managed to accomplish that this week.  Other than reorganizing my kitchen, I have nothing pressing to do.  :D

I just heard Conlan scream "Yah!" from his bedroom.  Vera will certainly not be far behind.  So I am thrown back into reality for now.  My peace and quiet will have to wait a few more days...the craziness that is my life is pretty amazing too though.  I know I will miss it when it's gone...

The Inspiration of Tasty Flakes

Two days ago, I was walking around Home Depot, and I had this urge to garden.  Two days ago, it was almost 70 degrees outside.

Today it's snowing.  Big, beautiful, delicious flakes.  It's the type of day where I want to dance around outside in my cute winter coat with a floppy hat and a colorful scarf.  My creative inspiration has moved from plants back to knitting.  I have fallen in LOVE with knitting.  Last night, I created a cupcake.  It isn't all that great, and I have since found a pattern I like infinitely better.  However, the thrill comes from knowing that I can create something out of nothing in no time flat.  I have taken to baby hats like nothing else.  I like to create something cute, creative, kitschy.  I have a book that I love, and I'm starting to learn how to alter those patterns to better suit my needs.

If you're a friend of mine on Facebook, you can see my hat creations.  Most of them have been for Vera.  (The one hat I've made for Conlan was really ugly and could fit Jonathan, so I'm trying another one for him.)  I'm sort of interested in selling the hats, but I'm not really pushy.  I am just kind of running out of kiddos to make hats for.  I don't plan on selling them on Etsy; I know people have had bad experiences with others stealing ideas.
