This weekend has been a breath of fresh air in a somewhat stifling week.
Thursday night we met with the pastor of the church we've been attending. It was pretty good, other than Conlan being tired and restless while we were talking. (We met for coffee right at Conlan's bedtime, so it was our own fault.)
Friday night we went to the pastor's house for a couple's night. We brought Conlan along thinking he would be alone, and we were wrong! Everyone brought their kids! The young couple's demographic seems to be largely military, so several of them were new-ish still and don't have a lot of family in the area either. We just enjoyed spending time with them and got along with everyone well.
Saturday night we fought and fought ourselves about going out to eat, but we ended up at Buffalo Wild Wings. As we were getting out of the car, one of the couples was getting out across the street, and we ended up eating dinner with them.
This morning at church, the pastor talked about getting real about our beliefs. ("Get Real" is the current theme as he is going verse by verse through 1 John.) One of the things talked about with this was the fact that we have a tendency to allow lies to weave into our life (in reference to the false prophets mentioned in 4:1). It was eye opening to me, and I realized that I have been letting my loneliness these past few weeks take over. I hope to make it stick this time. :)
This evening there's a church block party. which I think we're going to attend. More time with new friends.
